Portulaca flowers have been enjoyed in our family for almost 50 years.  Back "up north" in Wyandotte, Michigan, our Dad had them everywhere.  I especially liked that they would grow as unplanted volunteers in the cracks of our cement driveway

But those were the more conventional varieties seen in garden centers.  Like these below...
